While I can’t change the past, I’m determined to turn the horror of abuse into something good so others don’t also suffer, and institutions are held accountable.

SAFE Child Act (2019)

This bill helps protect children from abuse and modernized sexual assault laws. It expanded the duty to report child abuse, extended the statute of limitations for certain offenses, and opened a look back window for civil cases.

2025 Public Safety Act

Passed in 2025, SB 429 is a comprehensive criminal justice reform bill with a provision clarifying that clergy, as well as church employees and volunteers, cannot use consent as a defense in cases of child sexual abuse.

Sexual Act/Contact

While not yet passed, I’m working to get existing language changed to clarify that sexual acts and sexual contact are both included in SB 429, further holding perpetrators accountable for their abuse.
